Paul Manulik in Free Recital May 18

PRINCETON -- May 5, 2003 -- Violist and Music Director of the Princeton String Academy Paul Manulik will give a free recital Sunday, May 18. The 2:00 p.m. recital will be held at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 177 Princeton-Hightstown Road in Princeton Junction.

Featured on the program will be two major works. The Sonata for Viola Solo, Opus 25, Number 1, by 20th century composer Paul Hindemith exploits the instrument's virtuoso potential through a range of moods and changing meters. Marchenbilder (Fairy Tale Pictures) by German composer Robert Schumann is a bittersweet poetic lullaby in four widely different and expressive movements.

Princeton String Academy Music Director Paul Manulik enjoys a diverse career as orchestral players, chamber musician, teacher and recitalist. He performs with regional touring groups and is violist with the Princeton United Methodist Church string trio. His orchestral career includes principal and section positions across the country, most recently he was Associate Principal Violist with the Cedar Rapids Symphony Orchestra (CRSO). As a chamber musician, he founded the Paramount String Quartet, and served as violist with the string quartets of the CRSO and other American symphony orchestras. Mr. Manulik periodically conducts master classes for high school orchestras and serves as a guest clinician at summer festivals.

Princeton String Academy with Music Director Paul Manulik offers violin and viola instruction to students as young as three. Using the proven Suzuki Method that emphasizes development of natural talent, students study in both private lessons and weekly group classes. The private school was founded in 2000 and has an enrollment of 50 students.

A reception for all guests will follow the recital.
