Spring Concert April 11 Featuring Works by Bartók, Brahms

PRINCETON -- April 11, 2003 -- The Princeton String Academy spring concert will be held Friday, April 11, featuring performances by the Princeton String Academy Orchestra and a variety of violin and viola chamber groups. Curtain time is 7 p.m. for the free concert at the Presbyterian Church in Dutch Neck.

Works for violin and viola by Bach, Brahms, Beethoven and Bartók, as well as an array of traditional folk songs, will be featured. The concert will open with the Concerto in a minor ~ Allegro by AntonioVivaldi, followed by the Concerto in G Major ~ Largo ~ Allegro by G.P. Telemann and the Concerto in d minor for Two Violins by J.S. Bach.

The Princeton String Academy Orchestra, led by music director Paul Manulik, will perform two pieces by 20th century composer Bela Bartók, Menuetto and Maypole Dance, and Bach's from Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 ~ Moderato.

The Class of 2003, viola students ages three to six who began lessons in September 2002, will stage its debut with an early work by W.A. Mozart, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. After a brief intermission, violin and viola chamber groups will conclude the concert with an assortment of traditional folk songs, accompanied by pianist Shelley Sanders Zuckerman.

All guests are invited to meet the artists at a reception immediately following the concert. There is no charge for the concert and advance tickets are not required.

Princeton String Academy with Music Director Paul Manulik offers violin and viola instruction to students as young as three. Using the proven Suzuki Method that emphasizes development of natural talent, students study in both private lessons and weekly group classes. The private school was founded in 2000 and has an enrollment of 50 students.
