Music Camps

Families enjoy attending summer institutes together and participating in a wide range of musical and enrichment activities.

SAA-approved summer Suzuki institutes follow the SAA guidelines in providing training for teachers and activities for students and parents. These Institutes are sponsored by independent organizations, schools and programs throughout the U.S. and Canada, which set their own fees.

Past and present students have enjoyed some of these summer music programs. Others are listed here because we know them to be excellent programs. We add more listings from time to time, so check back.

American Suzuki Institute Suzuki Method instruction at the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point began in 1967 at the University Laboratory School. When the lab school closed in 1973, Chancellor Dreyfus, Margery Aber and a strong group of parent advocates worked together to keep the program alive and the American Suzuki Talent Education Center (ASTEC) was born. For students, the emphasis is on musical and personal growth through individual and group instruction which develop technique, musicianship and kind hearts. Parents receive support through the AMBASSADOR monthly newsletter, parent discussion groups and opportunities for informal sharing during student activities. More than thirty teachers have worked with over 4,000 ASTEC families. The families involved in this internationally acclaimed program focus on the process of learning.
